Arsenal Medical was founded by serial entrepreneur-investor Carmichael Roberts and academic luminaries Robert Langer and George Whitesides, who have revolutionized the fields of drug delivery, biotech, and clean energy. As experts in materials science and chemistry, they created Arsenal with the broad vision to transform medicine with materials.

Led by CEO Upma Sharma, our team includes a wide range of experts in material science, chemical, mechanical, and biomedical engineering, and clinical and regulatory affairs. Together, we meet the challenges of developing innovative biomaterials and their enabling devices.

Arsenal’s work has been recognized in 12 peer-reviewed papers, 14 national meeting presentations, and 38 issued patents. We have secured significant funding from both venture and a diverse group of non-dilutive sources, including the Department of Defense, DARPA, NIH, National Cancer Institute, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, and Massachusetts Life Sciences Center.
